Digestive Health Test 2 – Comprehensive Digestive Stool Test 2 with Optional Parasitology (CDSA2 or CDSA2P)
Digestive complaints are among the most common reasons that individuals seek medical care and the CDSA 2.0 is the gold standard of digestive testing. In addition to identifying general dysfunction, this test provides direct measures to pinpoint the diagnosis and treatment of many digestive conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
Could you benefit from this test?
This is the test of choice for those with chronic GI problems, acute bowel pattern changes and for those with systemic diseases and for those that want a clear diagnosis of Irritble Bowel Syndrome or Inflammatory bowel disease such as colitis, diverticulitis and Crohn’s.
This test may be beneficial if you suffer from any of the following
- Blood in or on the stool
- Mucus in or on the stool
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Family history of IBD
- Family history of Gastrointestinal cancers
- Crohns Disease
- Ulcerative colitis
- Gallstones
- Constipation
- Dysbiosis
- Diarrhoea
- Abdominal pain
- Gas and Bloating
Recent evidence shows that digestive abnormalities may be associated with many conditions not generally thought of to be associated with digestion.
- Arthritis
- Antibiotic use
- Autoimmune disease
- Skin problems
- Chronic Fatigue
- Osteoporosis
- Fibromyalgia
- Diabetes
What is being measured
Digestion/Absorption Markers
(Pancreatic Elastase, Putrefactive SCFAs) Direct measure of Pancreatic Digestive Enzyme output without interference from digestive supplements, changes in stool transit time or marker variability.
Gut Immunology Markers
Calprotectin, Eosinophil Protein X – Identifies mild, moderate or severe inflammation within the GI tract. Elevations of these markers are associated with infection (bacterial, viral, & parasitic), food allergy, Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (such as Ibuprofen) enteropathy, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and bowel cancer.
Metabolic Markers
Short Chain Fatty Acids, pH, Beta-glucuronidase, Bile Acids, n-Butyrate. Abnormal levels of Short Chain Fatty Acids may indicate alterations in gut flora, insufficient dietary fiber, altered transit time and small bowel bacteria overgrowth. The chemistry markers identify imbalances that are associated with increased toxic burden within the colon, increasing long-term risk for colon and breast cancers.
Microbiology Markers
Bacteriology, Mycology. Measures the beneficial flora Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium and measures additional flora, including strict pathogenic bacteria and potentially pathogenic and bacteria and yeast.
Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis + Parasitology 2 (CDSAP 2.0)
In addition to the above the CDSAP 2.0 also checks for the presence of parasites and eggs.
Specimen Requirement
CDSA 2.0 4x samples taken from 1 stool.
CDSAP 2.0 7x samples taken from 3 bowel movements in 3 days
