After being diagnosed with a chronic disease over 20 years ago I was lucky enough to be pointed in the direction of nutrition by my father a now retired GP, my mother a retired Intensive care nurse and latterly my brother who is currently  a GP. My parents led me in the direction of nutrition as they always encouraged me to  take a keen interest in healthy meals and I can still remember when I was younger being one of the first to know about the importance of reducing salt to help blood pressure and the goodness that fibre had to  offer. We had wholegrain bread years before anyone else when I was at school.

After getting well with the aid of nutrition and seeing how powerful it was it made sense to study it in depth to increase my knowledge and understanding hence I started my journey with nutrition with a personal need to look after myself and a desire to help other people who didn’t know how helpful and life changing it could be.

I studied at the Institute for Optimum Health which was founded by Patrick Holford who is also the author of numerous books such as the best seller ‘The Optimum Nutrition Bible.’

Once qualified I set up Smart Nutrition where I can now offers a broad range of services from consultations, health tests a digestive health clinic to help you to achieve optimum health so that you can enjoy life and attain your goals.

I lectured widely for 10+ years at many of the top UK nutrition colleges including ION CNM, Raworth and Paragon as  well as being clinic director for CNM which enabled them to reach NTC accreditation.

I have also written widely for a number of publications  – please see the media section of the website for examples.

I worked at the award winning IBS and Gut disorders centre for 2 years before setting up my own IBS clinic.

I have been working in the field of complimentary medicine for over 17  years now and have been practicing as a nutritional therapist for over 15 of these as well as spending time in the supplement industry.

I am a member of BANT – British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy.

I am also registered with the NTC – Nutritional Therapy Council (NTC)

I hope you enjoy my website and find some interesting information and of course if you need to speak to me or would like to book a consultation or test or would like me to write in your magazine or paper I am jut a phone call or email away.

I will look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Emma

US Custom changes Aug 29 2025

Every US shipment, regardless of value or content, must now undergo full entry with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Our lab partners are working hard to reduce the impact of these new customs procedures on returning US bound test samples.

Unfortunately this change may impact your test results turnaround time

  • Transit times may be longer due to increased customs processing.

  • Samples may be delayed or held while clearance is completed.

If you have already sent back your sample and it is directly affected by these customs delays, our team will contact you individually to advise on the next steps.

We know how vital timely testing is for you and we greatly value your understanding while these changes take effect.

We expect the situation to improve as customs processes adjust, and we will provide updates as this develops.

Please do not return samples to the laboratories that may arrive after Wednesday 27th March and up to and including Monday 2nd April.

The laboratories are closed from the 28th March – 2nd April for the Easter Holiday.
